We told you our side of the Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo story—why we made it, what makes it different, and what we think you’ll love the most. But we get it. Sometimes you want to hear from someone who’s actually tried it! So we reached out to a few of our favorite blondes to share the Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo experience in their own words. Today, we’re kicking things off with Ashley Streicher.
So, tell us about your hair. What color is it?
When I was little, I had white hair and as I’ve gotten older it’s gotten darker. My natural color is now a dark ash blonde. I have it balayaged every couple months to try to emulate a natural blonde. It’s gotten to be pretty light over the last couple months.
Aside from color, what is your hair like?
I prefer a little bleach in my hair because it makes my texture fuller and even a little wavy. I like the little bit of dryness that it gets from the balayage. My hair is naturally medium to fine, so the little bit of bleach gives me a more manageable texture for my bob haircut.
What are your primary concerns about your hair color?
I look best with a blonde that looks a little more sandy. Not gold but also not too ashy. It’s really hard to maintain that perfect tone—especially in LA, where we have very hard water that turns my hair brassy.
Have you used a purple shampoo before?
I have always had to use a purple shampoo to maintain my preferred tone of blonde, yes. Let me tell you—not all purple shampoos are created equal!
How long have you been testing Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo?
I was lucky enough to get an early sample of the Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo, So I’ve been testing it for about 5 months.
From start to finish, tell us about how you use Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo.
I generally only wash my hair twice a week, so my one out of two shampoos is with this purple shampoo. It gets my hair “clean” while also brightening and cutting the brassiness. Normally I would have to shampoo my hair with something like a clarifying shampoo first, and then use the purple shampoo for toning purposes only. This one is an all-encompassing cleanser, and with the added argan oil in it, it doesn’t make your hair feel “stripped” or like it’s just been bleached. After shampooing, I condition normally with the Volume Moroccanoil conditioner. I towel dry my hair and let it air dry with a little bit of the Moroccanoil light serum in it.
How often do you plan to use a purple shampoo in the future?
I will use it once a week for now. Depending on my sun exposure in the summer months, I may use it two times a week.
What about Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo stood out to you?
The thing that stood out most to me after using the shampoo a couple times is how well balanced it is. It’s one of the first purple shampoos I haven’t had to dilute with another shampoo for risk of making my hair “too purple”. But also, it works well enough to just shampoo one time with it.
How does your hair color look now?
Well aside from my overgrown roots due to this pandemic, my blonde looks bright and fresh and not damaged.
Any advice for someone considering trying a purple shampoo?
