Your social calendar might not be as jam-packed this December as it has been in previous years, but there’s no reason you can’t give your hair the holiday treatment. After all, while we (and our strands) have certainly enjoying a break from hot tools and styling, there’s a part of us that misses having an event to step it up for. Whether you want to look you best for a family zoom gathering or are pulling out all the stops for a New Year’s Eve at home, these holiday hair looks—created by Moroccanoil Celebrity Stylist Bryce Scarlet—are more than worthy of the occasion. Black tie optional.
GLOSSY HOLIDAY WAVES
“Start with wet hair. I coated the roots with Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse and the ends with Moroccanoil Treatment. Use a comb to part as desired—I did a deep side part here. Then blow-dry smooth with a Boar Bristle Brush.
“Once hair is dry, take one-inch sections and wrap them around a one-inch curling iron. Start with the section closest to your face. For curl direction, I did it curling toward the face. Just make sure that they all mimic each other so that the whole head is waved in the same direction.
“To finish, smoothly brush through the waves with the Boar Bristle Brush, then use Luminous Hairspray Medium for hold and shine.”
SILKY SMOOTH BLOWOUT
“I started with wet hair and sprayed the roots with Moroccanoil Volumizing Mist. Blow-dry the hair using a large Boar Bristle Round Brush, making sure to lift at the roots and smooth through to the ends.
Once hair is dry, spray Dry Texture Spray at the roots for added volume, then follow with Luminous Hairspray Medium from mid-lengths to ends for shine and separation. This helps give your hair more movement.”
SOFT, NATURAL TEXTURE
“If possible, start with air-dried hair. (A smooth blowout works, too.) Here, I parted in the middle, tucked hair tightly behinds the ears, then heated that area up for a few minutes using a diffuser. Then just release once cooled—that’s how you get that great natural bend near the face.
“Next, softly wrap the last 6–8 inches of hair around a one-inch iron. The key is to not start at the top and to leave the ends straight. Spray Dry Shampoo from roots to ends and massage in to give hair that soft texture with lots of volume. (It also helps if you’re working with second-day hair.)
“Finally, finish with Dry Texture Spray at the crown for lift and hold. I also added a bit at the ends for texture.”
