Like many of you across the country, the Moroccanoil team is still working from home. While we miss each other every day, we’re making due with regular Zoom hangouts and check-ins—and we have to admit, it’s been a whole lot of fun to learn more about how everyone’s spending their quarantine. Today, we’re checking in with Moroccanoil Paola Colón Moroccanoil Associate Manager, International PR. Find out how she’s taking care of herself and making the most of her time at home in sunny Puerto Rico—and keep tagging along on her adventures on her Instagram account!
Where are you? Who are you quarantined with?
On March 13th, I took a flight to Puerto Rico to attend one of my best friend’s weddings. Little did I know that weekend trip would turn into a 3+ month stay. I ended up quarantined with my parents, younger sister and our 8-year-old Yorkie, Mr. Bruno! Now that I’m thinking back, I do think it has been a blessing in disguise. We haven’t spent that much time together since I was 17 when I left for college. I’m currently trying to make the best of it and enjoying the great summer weather!
How are you taking care of yourself?
During these times I think the most valuable thing we can do is take care of our mental health and the people surrounding us. We have been supporting each other, exercising, meditating, trying out new recipes and, now that it’s permitted, going to the beach. In addition to that, I have been taking good care of my skin hence the humid island climate and of course, trying new hair routines with my favorite Moroccanoil products!
What have you learned about working from home? What’s your best work from home tip?
I’ve learned to be even more grateful on a daily basis and to actually stop taking things for granted. I learned to recognize that being healthy right now is the most valuable blessing and to stay positive even when the world seems to end. As for WFH tips, my biggest one is to change your pajamas!!! I’ve discovered it truly lifts my mood during those days when I’m not feeling my best.
What do you miss most about life before COVID-19?
The simplest things like walking around New York City, the daily commute, Central Park and interpersonal relations. I also miss planning events with the PR team and traveling!
What’s been the nicest surprise about quarantine life?
The nicest surprise is being able to work remotely for so long and having the beach 5 minutes away!
What’s the best thing you’ve cooked?
Vegan Raw Oat Truffles! I’ve been trying new plant-based recipes and this one specifically has helped satisfy all my sweet tooth cravings. 😊
What’s something that make you laugh recently?
My boyfriend is a healthcare worker and he has been working in the frontlines in NYC since the very beginning. A week ago, he was able to fly in and we were finally reunited after 3 months. He always makes me laugh and seeing him after so long definitely brought tears of joy and a big smile!
